Guest Lecture at Mercy University, New York: Mentoring the Next Generation of Investigators

Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering a guest lecture at Mercy University, New York, speaking to Criminal Justice students about careers in international investigations and the realities of working in the private sector.

For two hours, both in the room and online, we covered what the profession actually looks like beyond television, the work we do at Conflict International, the skills that matter, how global casework operates, and the genuine opportunities available to the next generation entering this field.

These students are curious, sharp, and thinking seriously about where their careers can take them. That is exactly the mindset that makes a great investigator.

Thank you to Professor Antonio Cruz, Ed.S. and the team at Mercy University for the invitation and for the warm welcome. Conversations like these matter—for the students, and for the future of the profession.

If your institution is interested in hosting a session on international investigations, corporate intelligence, or careers in the private sector, I would be glad to hear from you.

Proud to represent the Association of British Investigators, the World Association of Detectives, and the broader investigations community on a global stage.
